My art was exhibited in a tiny gallery next to the Duomo tonight alongside the three other girls in my painting class and our professor. The journalism professor wrote a small article in the Siena newspaper. The mayor stopped in and met us. One of the art professors at the Siena Art Institute also stopped by. She seemed to be paying quite a bit of attention to my piece, pointing to it and speaking with my professor. Then my professor introduced me to her and she talked a little bit about them. I felt a whole different pride than I’ve felt about my art. Then again, this is the first time my art has gotten out-of-the-classroom attention (besides when I post on tumblr). My Italian professor and the art history professor also came in and looked at everyone’s art. Claudia told me the art history professor really liked my piece as I saw him and Silvia standing in front of it and pointing at all of the little details. It feels good to feel like I’m maybe about to go somewhere with it, or at least that I’m transitioning from making lots if impersonal, mundane crap to something worth while.

Last night I was taking a nap on the couch and all of a sudden one of my roommates started yelling abruptly so I woke up. They had completely covered my sleeping body with paper and garbage and things and were videotaping the whole thing.
